In the midst of continued striking over a pay dispute, the CEO of Air France has submitted his resignation, sending the airline deeper into turmoil. Estimates so far indicate that the disruption has cost the carrier 300 million euros this year. Air France said one in five flights could be cancelled as a result of the most recent strikes as they expect to operate 80% of their schedule. Unions said earlier this week that they would not renew their strike notice which means there are no further strikes planned for now. Pilots’ unions agreed to suspend future industrial action pending further negotiations with management.

French economy minister Bruno Le Maire warns that Air France will “disappear” unless unions accept reforms designed to improve the airline’s competitiveness. The unions are asking management to return to the negotiation table in the coming days, stating, "The fight is not over and the ball is now in the management's court!"

Advice:
Confirm flight bookings on strike days. Do not check out of accommodation until onward travel is confirmed. Allow additional time to reach airports. Avoid all demonstrations as a routine precaution and to minimize possible disruption.
